Mary-Kathryn has completed production on her new album entitled Dreams & Visions and it is now available where ever engaging music is sold.
This long-awaited project was recorded at The Sound Kitchen studios in Nashville. Collaborating with Nashville producer Paul Buono, and working with some of Nashville, Tennessee’s and Toronto, Canada’s most gifted musicians, Mary-Kathryn has created an engaging musicial project. About.com Mary-Kathryn is unique… There’s truly no one else out there doing what she does. Mary-Kathryn considers herself a modern day psalmist, but the twist is that she sets her poetry to sounds from all around the world. For example, on One Spirit’s opening track, “Let Us Praise,” a driving rhythm is powered by middle eastern/Egyptian kinds of sounds. It brings to mind images of pyramids and nomads traveling across the desert. Later, on “Savior,” she paints images of a tribal dance with African sounds, while reminding the listener of our need for a divine savior. “Taste & See” injects some Jewish sounds into its simple melody.
CCM Magazine As the title suggests, unity is the theme of Mary-Kathryn’s sophomore national CD. That’s worked into the music as well as the lyrics, as she folds globe-spanning musical influences into her light pop style. These include the Middle Eastern-flavored “Let Us Praise,” an African chant on “Savior” and the English folk tune on which “Taste & See” is built.
